Parsons resident opens discount store

Tin Roof LLC, a discount store located at 314 Main in Parsons, offers customers clothing and shoes for all ages and sizes, jewelry, office supplies, home decor, furniture, pet supplies, toys, make-up, cookware and kitchen appliances, among several other items.

“Everything is brand new,” said Paulina Wisniewska, owner of Tin Roof LLC.

Wisniewska opened the store in Parsons three weeks ago. Products come from Target, Amazon, Macy’s and more.

The store opened in the former Cato location in the eastern part of town.

“Parsons needs something like this,” she said.

All the clothing for adults is priced at $5.99. Clothing for kids costs $3.99.

Wisniewska, who is from Poland originally, has lived in Parsons for the past five years. She won a green card in a lottery. The Diversity Immigrant Visa program offers green cards to up to 50,000 people per year, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigrant Services.

Wisniewska got the idea for the store from her neighbor, who posted items like this online.

She then went to an expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, in February and bought several items there to start the store.

Items she buys online she usually marks down 50%. For example, a toy retailing at $20 online is $10 in-store at Tin Roof.

The store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

The store is closed Sundays and Mondays.

“I’m ready for more customers,” Wisniewska said.
